Terms of Service

Effective: July 2026

SAFETY NOTICE: Capt. Ron’s Navigation (“the app,” “the service”) is a decision-support tool for personal watercraft (PWC/jet ski) and small-boat captains. It is NOT a substitute for the captain’s own judgment, official National Weather Service forecasts, U.S. Coast Guard advisories, or on-the-water observations. You are always the final authority for your vessel’s safety.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Service description

The app provides deterministic, rule-based weather and water risk reports (“WXRR”) generated from third-party data sources (NOAA, Open-Meteo, RainViewer, Warpulse). WXRR outputs are informational only and do not constitute professional weather or safety advice.

3. No warranty · Limitation of liability

The service is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app operator disclaims all liability for personal injury, property damage, or economic loss arising from your use or inability to use the service. You use the app at your own risk.

4. Your responsibilities as captain

  • Verify all conditions against official sources (NOAA, Coast Guard, harbormaster) before launch.
  • File a float plan with a responsible party.
  • Wear a properly fitted USCG-approved PFD.
  • Carry required safety equipment (VHF/EPIRB, signaling devices, first-aid).
  • Never rely solely on this app for a launch decision.

5. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. You may delete your account at any time from the /account page.

6. Acceptable use

Do not: (a) scrape or automate access outside published rate limits, (b) share credentials, (c) misrepresent conditions to endanger others, or (d) use the service for unlawful purposes.

7. Intellectual property

The app’s rule set, code, and content are the property of the app operator. You retain ownership of feedback and comments you submit but grant a non-exclusive license to use them to improve the service.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, U.S.A., without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
